Red Sea Star (Fromia milleporella)

The Red Sea Star (Fromia milleporella) has small black dots along its body known as "Pours." Its star-shaped body makes it a great addition to any reef tank! These stars should only be kept by EXPERT aquarists who have confidence in maintaining STABLE water parameters as the Red Sea Star is very intolerant of changes in water chemistry. 

 

  • Approx. Purchase Size: 2"
  • Tank Size: A tank size of 40 gallons is recommended.
  • Water Parameters: Maintain a temperature of 72-78°F (22-26°C), a pH level between 8.1-8.4, and a specific gravity of 1.024-1.026.
  • Feeding: The Red Sea Star feeds primarily on detritus and micro-organisms on substrate and  Live Rock. Only 1 starfish is recommended unless the tank is over 80 gallons. Small pieces of clam or pellets can be placed under the Marbled Sea Star starfish to supplement its diet.
  • Compatibility: Starfish are peaceful and REEF SAFE. They are compatible with Reef Safe Fish and Inverts but avoid keeping them with large predatory species that can eat them.
